On Epistemology and Knowing God

In the words of Martin Luther, who says in the preface to his Ninety-Five Theses, "out of love for the truth and the desire to bring it to light," I would welcome discussion on the following theses. § 1 When Paul says, "Do not be conformed to this world" (Rom. 12:2), the Greek word for "world" is aion , which means, "age" or "time." Among other things, Paul is saying:   Do not be conformed to the philosophical times. § 2 That God has made Himself known in Scripture is compromised by any philosophy which holds that God is unknowable or we are unknowers , particularly with respect to a direct and verifiable knowledge of reality — inclusive of facts, history, and textual meaning. § 3 The self-disclosure of God through Scripture may be compromised by undermining the knowing process itself: (1) on God's side, when any aspect of God's self-disclosure through words is undermined, such as a denial of the divinit
